I got an early birthday present from my mother-in-law and I have to say, she did GREAT this year!! She got me a 2 year subscription to Backwoods Home Magazine, plus a book on raising chickens. I've been really, really been wanting this...THANK YOU SOOO MUCH LINDA!!!The magazine is full of practical ideas for self-reliant living, they cover in "how to" style topics like gardening, making bread, canning, food storing, sensible energy solutions, homemade cloth diapers and the list goes on and on. At the risk of sounding like a child of the 80's it's a totally awesome magazine!! :)
