Chicken Pox Party 2010

Chicken Pox Party 2010
We've been waiting 4 1/2 years for this...no messin' around this time. We stepped it up a notch, standard playing around with a child with chicken pox isn't enough. Spit needed to be exchanged! :) We attending the party on what felt like a moments notice. We dropped everything and drove 40 minutes each way to attend.

The 4th child in (wearing pink) is covered in chicken pox. She has spots all over and a fever. All the rest of the kids are chicken pox party goers.
The family that held the party was holding mini parties throughout that day and the next.

We swabbed the inside of her mouth with a Q-Tip 9 different times. Each swab would go all through out her mouth and on the worst looking chicken pox. Then we would take that swab and run it through each healthy child's mouth. (Pretty gross!)

After the Q-Tips were done we played "pass the sippy cup". Then we gave all the kids a sucker, but not until the little girl with chicken pox sucked on it first. This did require some tactical maneuvering because my kids were grossed out by the idea.

Got Q-Tips?

Swabbin' to the left, swabbin' to the right...come on chicken pox!

This little one was such a trooper. She said "Mama, why are we having a play date today? I don't feel very good."
With any luck we'll be posting pictures of spotted kids next! :) We've got about 5-7 families that want us to hold a chicken pox party next.

If you don't get the chicken pox with all that effort with such an
"infectious disease" I don't know HOW else you would ever get it!!!

I guess I don't understand? You give your children no vaccines? So you want them to get the pox so that they don't get it later in life? And aren't there way worse things in life than a few vaccines? One would think that the statistical data that is in favor of vaccines would outweigh the nonfavorable. You have more risk getting in your car each day than having a bad side affect to a vaccine. Not saying your choice is wrong, I just don't understand. Yet, then again some people don't understand why I feed my kids all organic. Hope to see pictures of pox soon!

"And aren't there way worse things in life than a few vaccines?"

Let me say that is a huge understatement and very debatable. The neurological implications of vaccinations are many, they include ADD, ADHD, autism, mental retardation, SIDS, CNS disorders, paralysis, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, nerve deafness, blindness and many more.

I think your statements come from a lack of education in this topic. I would like to encourage you to read up on the statistical data related to vaccinations. I would also encourage you to read the ingrediants in the vaccines. If an organic life is what you want the shots are the opposite. I would like to recommend a website to you... www.drmercola.com is organic minded, well educated and very imformative. I wish you the best.

Looks like fun :). My girls are so excited to "party" but I am sure we'll have some issues with being "grossed out" too!

So...if your kids get the pox, are you planning on having a pox party at your house? If so, I may be interested. I think my kids all got one vaccination for the pox before I decided to stop vaccinating. (I'll have to double check) Can they still get chicken pox do you think?

I've been holding off on the chicken pox vaccine for my kids. I got both chicken pox and shingles as a kid, and feel they should get it naturally. Anyone know how long the virus lives on spoons or q-tips? Could an item be sent through the mail to use for my kids? And would anyone be willing to send it if I sent a postage paid envelope?

We are still waiting to see if chicken pox are in our future. Today is day 13...chicken pox usually show themselves between day 14-16 but could take as long as 21 days.

Sorry, we can not send anything in the mail. I think it's illegal. :) The pox have made the rounds here in Idaho and we don't know of anyone else that currently has the pox. Sorry.
Put the word out that you REALLY want the pox and all your crazy like minded friends will call you with every rash their kiddos bring home in the next 5 yrs. You're bound to get them sooner or later.
