Leia in the kitchen with Ree Drummond :)

I've been on a cooking role ever since this arrived...
I've been reading her blog on and off for about a year and she finally put out a cookbook. She's hilarious not to mention a homeschooling mom of 4 living on a ranch out in the middle of no where. She was a total city girl from Cali until her meet her husband. Since the closest restaurant is like 50 miles away she makes lots of home cooked meals for her family. She is not only entertaining to read but her recipes are wonderful. I've had the book a week and tried all of the following recipes.
"Triple Berry Crisp"
This one wasn't from the cookbook, it was from her blog. yummmmmmy. A BIG hit.
" Ribeye Steak"
(We have lots of those thanks to "Burger") This one didn't turn out so well, I think it's because I didn't want to use the BBQ outside (ya know, cause it's freezing out there!) I cooked it in a pan and I probably won't do that again. It was edible, just not the tastiest meal.

"Fried Cube Steak"
I have a TON of cube steaks (from "Burger") and pretty much didn't know what to do with them. I'm learning how to cook all these different meats. We had "Arm Roast" the other night. The steak turned out really good and the kids loved it. They said it was one of the best meals I've ever cooked.

"Eggs in a Hole"
The kids thought that was pretty funny and tasty. We have lots of eggs (thanks to all the chickens) so I'm always looking for new ways to make them exciting!

"Creamy Mashed Potatoes"
All I can say about this one is WOW. Talk about tasty! Her recipe called for items I usually wouldn't have added to mashed potatoes. Turned out wonderful!

"Marlboro Man's Favorite Sandwich"
Marlboro Man is what she calls her husband. Judging by the pictures in her cookbook I would say I agree it's a good name for him. The sandwich got a 2 thumbs up from my hubby.
"Best Ever Lasagna"
Austin's favorite dish is lasagna and I can honestly say I've never made it from scratch until this week. It was wonderful! I was able to use my canned tomoatoes from the summer.
Well, I've got to run. I've got dinner to finish cooking! :)

Ree Drummond's blog can always get me in a better mood. We've got her Chicken Scallopini scheduled on our menu for Monday. This will be my first pioneer woman recipe attempt. I've been thinking of getting her cookbook. Is it as funny as her blog?
BTW we call Eggs in a Hole...One Eyed Eggs. My daughter who isn't a big fan of eggs loves them.
God Bless,
Heather

Yes, her cookbook is as funny as her blog! Plus she shares family pictures so you feel like you get more of an insight to her life. I found her book 1/2 price on Amazon. With delivery the total was $15.49 not to bad considering used books were listed for more. Cover price was $28
My hubby will hear me laughing and come in to see what I'm doing and I will have her book in my hand. Not only is she funny but she's inspiring to try new meals.
