Mad Scientists

We are just sittin' around here waiting for the chicken pox to take over the house. Not a single spot in sight yet, which is normal. We probably have another 2-5 days before we can expect to see signs of chicken pox.

Back to the mad scientist title...what if we got tomatoes in April this year? That would mean we could start preserving a few months earlier, that means we could possibly avoid total burn out this season and that means we could do much more than last year! It's worth a shot.

So, last week I planted 13 "Roma" tomato plants. We like Roma because we consume a crazy amount of salsa, marinara sauce and salads. I was amazed how fast these seedlings sprouted up through the soil.
It probably just appeared so much faster because we weren't planting 10 other varieties at the same time. :) ha,ha
We decided to plant lettuce this morning on impulse, so I'll have pictures of that once they have sprouted. If our experiment turns out to be a flop we have another 20+ seeds to plant, so no loss for us. We've also got lots of pots for transplanting later. :)

where are you going to transplant these babies? In your straw/window greenhouse? Is it warm enough there to be outside in the elements?

do tell. :)
